Converting OEM into VLK (site license)
Hiya,
Is it possible to convert a standard XP OEM sp3 (self slipstream via nlite)
into a already registered (wpa disabled) version.
without having to use external tools eg antiwpa which always get caught by anti virus scanners?
thx, blub3636

RE: Converting OEM into VLK (site license)
Yes it is.

You have to get the following files from a Corporate/VLK Windows XP CD:
DPCDLL.DL_
OEMBIOS.BI_
OEMBIOS.CA_
OEMBIOS.DA_
OEMBIOS.SI_
PIDGEN.DLL
SETUPP.INI
SETUPREG.HIV

And replace those in MSDN/OEM iso.
Unfortunately I am not allowed to provide this files here as they are copyrighted by Microsoft.

You also have to set appropriate disk label:
http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=422

And have a corporate/VLK key Tongue

Groovy!,
Cheers for that hint.
just one more question before i run off.
Will this also work for a xp home image?
sp2 or sp3 ->into a permanently activated image?
or can i maybe use those files from my already activated iso and transfer them accross to the home image?
thx, blub3636

No. Windows XP Home does not have corporate licensing.

Only if Windows XP Professional. Protip: SP2 files work with SP3.

Windows XP Home does not have corporate licensing so that wouldn't work.

RE: Converting OEM into VLK (site license)
Aeh right I still have another more tricky scenenario.
I have this xp home recovery disc sp2 (probably) already wpa activated.
I will have to investigate that.
What I want to do is to create a image with that liscense key (basicaly transfer the liscense) and again permantly deactivate WPA also WGA if possible.
I also have this other image OEM xp home sp2 image.
Which I can slipstream SP3.
After that I could I transfer the files needed for the WPA issuse of some other source (eg the recovery image or somewhere else).
Next would be how I can also handle the WGA issuse plz?
Again if possible in way which won't interfere with virus scaners.
I also forgot to mention that I also would like to handle the WGA issue on the xp pro image.
thx, blub3636

I have decided to move this thread since it is not about AntiWPA Tongue

Recovery disks are normally meant to be just used on computer it came with.

Do it with nlite.

Maybe your Windows XP Professional product key is blacklisted :|

Anyway you can try this:
1. Save \I386\HOSTS to desktop
2. Open it with a text editor
3. Find:
Code:
127.0.0.1       localhost
4. Add below:
Code:
127.0.0.1       mpa.one.microsoft.com genuine.microsoft.com sls.microsoft.com
5. Save and find a way to replace file in iso

RE: Converting OEM into VLK (site license)
Hiya again,
I successfully managed to convert both xp home sp3 oem & xp pro sp3 oem into vlk images and to deactivate the wpa issue.
By transfering the earlier named files accross into my nlite temporay folder.
One issuse still remains though.
Since I converted both images into VLK editions they both require VLK key's.
I do want to continue to use actual propper liscense's - if possible.
Therefore is it somehow possible to exchange the key after installing the image? And to maintan the deactived wpa status?
thx, blub3636
